Visualization Reps
Dugout Master ✓ Official Dugout Master drill
Players visualize successful execution of a baseball skill before performing it physically.
Mental Skills⏱ 10 min👥 2-24 players
Setup
Gather the team somewhere quiet — the outfield grass or the dugout. Have the physical station ready so players can go straight from visualizing to doing. Works best paired with a hitting or fielding block.
Execution
- Players sit or stand with eyes closed and picture themselves at the plate or in the field.
- Coach walks them through the sequence out loud: the setup, the pitch, the swing, the result.
- Players run the same sequence silently three times, adding one detail each pass — sound, feel, the crowd.
- Players open their eyes and immediately take five live reps of that exact skill.
- Ask two or three players what the picture looked like and whether the rep matched it.
