Throwing Accuracy Targets
Dugout Master ✓ Official Dugout Master drill
Players throw at designated targets while competing for accuracy and learning to prioritize a catchable throw over pure velocity.
Throwing⏱ 12 min👥 4-16 players
Setup
Set up two or three throwing stations, each with a target: a net with a marked square, a bucket on a base, or a coach holding a glove at chest height. Split the team into small groups, one per station, with a scorer at each. Keep a team scoreboard visible.
Execution
- Each player gets five throws from a marked distance.
- Three points for hitting the target, one point for a chest-high throw the receiver catches without moving their feet, zero for anything else.
- Any throw the receiver has to move for scores zero regardless of how hard it was thrown.
- Groups rotate stations after every player has thrown.
- Total the scores by group and post the winner; run a second round to beat the score.
