Tee Line Drive Drill

Dugout Master ✓ Official Dugout Master drill

Players use a tee to work on consistent barrel contact and driving balls through the middle of the field.

Hitting⏱ 10 min👥 1-12 players

Setup

Set a tee in front of a net or into an open field, with the ball positioned off the front hip at belt height. Hitters work in pairs — one hitting, one feeding — with a bucket of balls beside the tee. Keep at least fifteen feet between stations.

Execution

  1. Hitter takes their normal stance and sets the tee so the ball is off the front hip.
  2. Hitter takes a controlled swing, driving the ball back through the middle.
  3. Partner tracks the flight: a line drive counts, a pop-up or ground ball does not.
  4. Hitter takes ten swings, then switches with the partner.
  5. Run two rounds; on the second round the hitter calls out the result before looking.
