Setup
Full infield in position with a catcher in gear, plus a group of runners with helmets waiting at the plate. Coach hits from the plate with a bucket beside them. Put a scoreboard or whiteboard up to track outs and runs.
Execution
- Coach hits a ball and a runner takes off from the plate as if they had hit it.
- Defense plays the ball out live, including all backups and coverages.
- An out is recorded or a runner is safe; runners stay on base for the next rep.
- Play a full three-out inning, then reset with new runners and a new score.
- Defense must record three outs before giving up three runs to win the inning.
