Setup
Set a catcher at full distance. Mark three ladder levels on a strike-zone net or with the catcher's glove: the whole zone, one half of the zone, then a glove-sized spot. Keep a scorecard on the fence.
Execution
- Level one: pitcher must throw three of five pitches anywhere in the strike zone to advance.
- Level two: pitcher must throw three of five to the called half of the plate to advance.
- Level three: pitcher must throw two of five to the catcher's set glove.
- A failed level is repeated once, then the pitcher drops back a level.
- Track how far each pitcher climbs and how many total pitches it took.
